There is so much great stuff happening in Missoula this fall and so much that supports our local food movement! Exciting!
Following on the heels of a jam-packed week last week with the great Bitterroot Valley Farm Tour and our “Wear Green to the Farmers’ Market” event, just this next week alone, so many exciting events are happening! We’ll be there! Will you?
Tuesday, September 11th: CFAC Board Member, EVST grad student and former FLAT resident Stephanie Laporte will be hosting a canning workshop at the UM FLAT on Tuesday, September 11th at 7:30pm! For a $1-$2 contribution you’ll get to take home your very own jar of canned vegetables! Yum!
Wednesday, September 12th: UM’s 3rd Farm to College FEASTival! The event is the culmination of a year’s planning and cooperation with more than 25 food-producing partners. Nearly all of the items on the menu will be provided by local farmers, ranchers and food producers, who began preparations to grow and raise the food for the feast in April. There will also be live music (Cash for Junkers)!4:30 to 7:30pm on the UM Oval. $10!
Wednesday, September 12th:After you fill yer belly at the FEASTival, head over to the Roxy! Steven Rinella, renowned nature-writer, conservationist, and 2000 University of Montana master of fine arts graduate, will read from his new book, “Meat Eater: Adventures from the Life of an American Hunter” at the Roxy Theatre (718 S. Higgins Ave.). Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the reading begins at 7:00 p.m. A reception will follow with wild game hors d’oeuvres and a complimentary beer or glass of wine for guests over 21. The event is free and they’re raffling off a bivy sack – proceeds benefit the Montana Wilderness Association!
Saturday, September 15th: MUD will be hosting the Grand Opening for their Tool Library and Truck Share from 4pm – 7pm AND doing a free cider pressing from 10am – 4pm! Bring your apples and jugs to fill to 1527 Wyoming (next to Home ReSource and Black Coffee Roasting Co.)!
Saturday, September 15th: After you get your apples squeezed, head down to Stevensville for Wildwood Brewing’s Grand Opening! Tasty food and organic beer from 12pm – 8pm! https://www.facebook.com/Wildwood.Brewery09
Monday, September 17th: FARMAGEDDON: the Unseen War on American Family Farms, is playing at the Missoula Public Library at 6:45pm. We haven’t seen it yet… Have you?
Well, that still leaves Thursday, Friday, and Sunday for you to plan (I must have missed something!), but I’d say that’s pretty darn good, Missoula! See you out there!
